Ball screw spindle

Trapezoidal spindles and Ball screw spindles are intended to convert a rotating movement into a linear movement or exceptionally also the other way around: conversion of a linear movement into a rotating one (only recommended for larger pitches, starting from 1/3 of the nominal diameter).  

Due to the lower rolling friction, ball screws have a higher efficiency (up to 98%), require lower drive power and are not self-locking..

Further information required for the selection is: the version (shape) of the nut, the pitch accuracy, the length and, if necessary, the details of the final finish..

Ball screw drives are sensitive to dirt and high shock loads, but if sufficiently protected and regularly provided with grease lubrication, they achieve a very long lifetime.
