A linear electric cylinder or linear actuator provides linear motion, as opposed to the rotating motion of the applied electric motor. The linear actuator transforms rotation into a linear motion of pushing, pulling, lifting, or positioning loads up to 20 tons. There is a choice to use a DC motor or AC motor. 

For linear actuators with a DC motor, we refer to the more standard In-line linear actuators In-line linear actuators from the Concens brand. AC stands for Alternating Current, which means that such a motor can be directly powered from the low-voltage grid and can be switched on or off by means of contactors. Nowadays, they are mostly controlled via a frequency controller. Electric cylinders with an AC motor are slightly less compact than DC actuators and therefore mainly suitable for industrial applications.
